At K 2016, Haitian to injection mold clear 1,2 l Pails from MOL Group’s TATREN polypropylene resin containing Milliken’s Millad® NX™ 8000 clarifier

2_Haitian_International_Germany_GmbH__1_2_l_Pail_.jpgMilliken & Co. is partnering in Düsseldorf with Haitian International, which will showcase the benefits of a new MOL Group polypropylene resin that uses Milliken’s latest clarifying agent.

On Booth A57 in Hall 15 at the Oct. 19-26 K 2016 trade fair, China’s Haitian International plans to produce in-mold-labeled, 1.2-liter pails in a 5.4-second cycle on its all-electric VEII3000/ 1700p injection molding machine, using resin from materials supplier MOL Group (Booth C71, Hall 8B). In line with its motto of “Flexibility with Technology to the Point,” Haitian will integrate the press into an automated cell by Sepro Robotique and Pagès. The exhibit will demonstrate the packaging version of its already established, fully electric Venus II Series.

The resin grade in question is MOL Group’s TATREN RM 45 55 CLEAR polypropylene — a new-generation, reactor-grade random copolymer that contains Milliken’s Millad® NX™ 8000 clarifying agent. The resulting material allows for high transparency in injection molding, and offers excellent organoleptic properties that makes it suitable for food-contact applications.

Milliken (Booth A27, Hall 6) notes that traditionally clarified random copolymers require high processing temperatures to optimize transparency and clarity. The improved solubility of Millad NX 8000 provides improved aesthetics at significantly lower temperatures than traditional clarifiers. Lower processing temperatures of just 170-190°C mean lower energy consumption and shorter cycle times, leading to improved productivity and a lower carbon footprint. These results have been validated by the independent organization UL Environment, a business unit of Underwriters Laboratories. On average, processors can expect to realize energy savings of 10-15%.
