At NPE 2018, GDK to extrusion blow mold sports drink bottles using polypropylene clarified with Millad® NX™ 8000E
At NPE 2018 in Orlando, Czech machinery producer GDK spol. s.r.o. is collaborating with specialty chemicals supplier Milliken & Company to demonstrate the possibilities of extrusion blow molding a stylish, clear sports drink bottle clarified with Milliken’s Millad NX 8000E.
While offering a wide range of pneumatic and servo-electric-drive blow molding machines capable of making a bottle with volumes ranging from 5 ml to 30 liters, GDK will run its GM 751 E model machine. This single-station, electric blow molder offers a compact footprint, low energy consumption, 30 kN clamping force and can produce bottle volumes up to 1.5 liters.
GDK (Booth W8091) will be molding a sports bottle from polypropylene clarified with Milliken’s Millad NX 8000E. The resin is formulated with a new-generation clarifying agent to yield excellent optical properties such as transparency and gloss. Superior optical performance can be achieved when optimizing the rheology of the Millad NX 8000E resin.
In blow molding, the high clarity of the resulting material — known in the market as NX UltraClear PP — makes it an attractive alternative for PC in baby bottles and for PETG and PVC in personal care and detergent bottles. NX UltraClear PP also makes it possible to integrate handles, softtouch and create complex, eye-catching designs in a blowmolded bottle that is also easier and faster to empty than other solutions.
Milliken (Booth S26023) will focus at the show on how its technology-leading clarifiers and nucleators can improve polypropylene, with the core themes of Making PP Clearer; Making PP Better; Making PP Faster.
