Milliken Showcases Additives for the Auto Industry

Milliken representatives are in Mannheim, Germany, this week, showcasing technology for lighter automotive parts at the 2016 VDI Plastics in Automotive Engineering Conference. Now in its 40th edition, the conference will run through tomorrow and features such themes as interior and exterior advancements and lightweight design.

With plastics and polyolefin materials serving as the top choice for many auto parts, industry demand has led to significant advancements in plastics additives, which enable added durability and design flexibility in these materials.

At booth 19, Milliken will showcase a number of its additives for auto parts, including:

  • Milliguard® AOX-1: Named a 2015 R&D 100 Award winner, Milliguard AOX-1 helps to prevent oxidation and degradation in polyurethane (PU) foam, outperforming conventional antioxidants. AOX-1 has also been proven to reduce VOC and FOG emissions to assist automotive designers in meeting strict industry air quality standards.
  • Milliguard® UVX: Milliguard UVX meets VDA 278 compliance for PU and TPU applications while decreasing UV degradation in elastomers, coatings, and foam parts.
  • Hyperform® HPN-20E: This nucleating agent brings improved stiffness/impact balance to polypropylene applications, eliminating warpage and providing overall property improvement. Hyperform HPN-20E performs well in all temperature conditions, creating the opportunity for material downgauging and reduced cycle times.
