NATPET to highlight new Milliken-clarified polypropylene resin grade at K 2016, in collaboration with Haitian International
Saudi Arabia’s National Petrochemical Industrial Co. (NATPET) plans to showcase several PP resins, including a new grade of random copolymer clarified with Milliken & Co.’s Millad® NX™ 8000 clarifier, at the upcoming K 2016 trade fair in Düsseldorf.
On its booth (A57, Hall 15), China’s Haitian International, one of the world’s largest makers of plastics manufacturing machinery, will injection mold a clear cosmetics cap made with NATPET’s new Teldene® R25MLT-MG resin that has been designed specifically for healthcare applications. NATPET (Booth A74 in Hall 8B) packs this peroxide-free grade in a dust-free environment and stores it in temperature-controlled conditions.
Haitian is exhibiting in Düsseldorf under the motto “Technology to the Point, with the perfect Balance between Productivity and Flexibility at best costs”, and will be running one of its 300-ton presses from the electrical Zhafir Zeres Series. While structurally identical to Haitian’s successful Venus II series, the highly versatile Zeres line enjoys all the advantages of electric injection molding technology — precision, energy efficiency, independent parallel movements throughout the entire cycle, with integrated hydraulics and ease of maintenance. Zhafir’s entry-level model into the “fully electric world” is available in clamping forces ranging from 400 to 6,500 kN.
Specialty chemicals supplier Milliken (Hall 6, Booth A27), meanwhile, is focusing on its K show theme of “Making Polypropylene Clearer, Better, Faster. Together”. Using the Millad NX 8000 additive produces a PP resin that offers tremendous clarity, while also allowing processors to reduce molding temperatures compared to resins made with previous-generation clarifiers. This helps converters to better meet sustainability goals by reducing energy consumption and shortening cycle times. The lower molding temperature also shortens the cooling time of the part prior to ejection from the mold, further speeding production and boosting productivity.
The cosmetics cap being molded on the Haitian International booth is just one example of how Milliken’s clarifier helps to yield highly transparent, well-shaped finished products.
